Here’s the thing. We don’t do a lot of birthday parties in our little H-G Family. It’s a lot of work, and there is a crazy amount of social pressure to pull off these epically planned, perfectly presented spectacles (thank you, Pinterest). We’ve made a point of saying each kid will have a first birthday party with close friends and family, but then there won’t be another big shindig until they can write their own thank you notes (cuz momma don’t wanna do all the work).
But then you have big birthdays that need to be marked with a ridiculous party, loaded with friends, stuffed with good food, and splashed with hearty drinks. With Brad and I turning thirty this year, we knew we’d need to have one such crazy spectacle. What better way to mark the completion of three decades than to have a Nerdy Thirty party? So that’s what we did.
Here are a smattering of photos of the event – from the invitations to the backyard bonfire that closed out the night – and we loved getting all nerdy with our friends. We hope you enjoy these moments that we will now cherish so much.
A big thanks to everyone who came out and made our birthday celebration especially nerdy. And to those who were celebrating from a distance in spirit, we felt your nerdiness all around. This next decade is looking pretty awesome so far.
Always nerdy,
M&B
